Caribbean
Biostrat JV has amassed 30 years of substantial experience working in the prolific oil and gas basins of Trinidad, Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname, as well as Caribbean territories relatively new to oil and gas exploration such as Jamaica, Barbados and Aruba.
Onshore and Offshore Trinidad & Tobago
Our in-house data sets comprise over 100 offshore wells in the Gulf of Paria, North and East Coast Marine Areas, and Columbus Basin drilled in the 1990s to late 2000s. More recently we have been involved in some of the most celebrated oil and gas discoveries in the offshore shelf, deepwater and onshore blocks of Trinidad.
Guyana-Suriname Offshore Basin
Since the mid-2000s we have been providing biostratigraphic services for exploration wells drilled prior to the Liza oil field discovery in Guyana. During the most recent spark in exploration activity, Biostrat has been extensively involved in high-profile deepwater projects offshore both Guyana and Suriname.
Environmental Projects
Biostrat JV offers environmental baseline surveys (EBS) using foraminifera to assess and monitor the impact of industrial and agricultural activity such as chemical, sewage and industrial water disposal, offshore drilling, production and construction activity. Since 2003, when the service was first introduced, over 50 EBS in all marine areas surrounding Trinidad and Tobago have been completed. This now serves as a valuable data base to compare past and present community structures and identify significant changes related to natural phenomena, human activity or long-term climate change.
